Metro and Metrocable Ride
Glide over the hillside barrios on the city's proud cable cars
Everyday awareness$ metro metrocable views budget solo-friendly
Medellín's Metro, with its connected Metrocable gondolas, is the city's pride and the easiest way to see how it climbs its valley walls. Buy a Cívica card at a station, ride Line A to Acevedo, then Line K up to Santo Domingo for sweeping views; Santo Domingo's rebuilt Parque Biblioteca partly reopened in June 2026.
Why we love it
- Ride Line K's gondolas above the hillside neighborhoods
- Continue on Line L (tourist fare) to Parque Arví
- Spot the Medellín River and downtown from above
Enjoy it safely
Very well-run and policed, but trains get packed at rush hour: keep your phone tucked away and your backpack in front. Ride outside 6–8 am and 5–7 pm when you can.
